Our Story

In 1976, Carl Samuelson and John Davies sold the business they started in 1941 to a group of California lemon growers. In the 1970’s, a group of lemon growers reorganized and began doing business as Ventura County Lemon Cooperative (dba Ventura Pacific Company)

For over 75 years, Ventura Pacific growers have band together to form the thriving cooperative it is today. Our growers are dedicated multi-generational farmers with deep roots in citrus. They continue to pass on their knowledge of growing lemons to each of their generations as they proudly continue their legacy. They all have a personal interest in bringing the best possible citrus products to the consumer. A successful approach to promoting and developing a recognizable brand lies in our strategic partnerships. Through these collaborations, growers gain access to international markets and benefit from established global transportation networks. These partnerships have consistently supported continued growth and long-term success.

Food Safety

Ventura Pacific employees recognize the importance of food safety throughout the food supply chain at all stages to include storage, handling, processing and distribution. We aim to meet the highest level of food safety and quality to ensure exacting standards of hygiene, codes of practice, and all legal requirements.

The fruit we receive from our growers is washed and processed in two stages to guarantee that contaminants from the field are removed from the product. Internally, our staff oversees and ensures that a rigorous product and process control testing regime is routinely carried out. Ventura Pacific is audited annually by an independent 3rd party and is PrimusGFS certified.

Senior Management at Ventura Pacific is committed to Food Safety and ensures that adequate resources are invested into our program. This commitment, as well as the dedication of our employees, has helped us achieve our program’s success.
